Frequently Asked Questions

Are all fitness levels welcome?

Yes, are class is designed for all levels. You will get a great workout if you are an experienced runner or if you are just getting into shape. Plus, everyone is very supportive in class.

Can you tell me what a typical class is like?

We start each class with 5 minutes of stretching followed by 35 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of full body exercises - pushups, situps, holds, partner resistance training, pullups, stairs, sprints, crunches, lunges, etc.

In general, we run for a couple of blocks and than stop to do the exercises. If you are in great shape and get to the exercise station first or if you are working your way into shape and may be near the back of the pack, we all meet at the same exercise station and we all do the same exercises. No one is left behind.

What do you need to bring to class?

Wear running shoes. I also recommend wearing layers because the run is rain or shine and you do want to get too cold or too hot. You can bring a small bottle of water if you choose, but you'll need to run with the water, and there is not a place to leave it during the class.

Should I get a doctor's waiver before joining the class?

Yes, I would recommend getting a doctor's waiver before starting any strenuous program.

Where do you meet?

We meet in Dolores Park on the corner of 18th Street and Dolores Street (across from the Dolores Park Cafe and next to the tennis courts).

How do you get a great workout without using barbells, weights or therabands?

My boot camp is designed to give you a great workout without lugging around mats, barbells or therabands. I wanted to create an experience completely different from the gym. We use our own body weight for all of our exercises. And, we use whatever the city offers - park benches, curbs, stairs, hills, pullup bars, ropes and much more. Your body will be sore after each workout!

How long are the classes?

Each class lasts for exactly one hour. You will be back in the park in time to get ready for work. As for our Saturday class, it usually lasts 1.5 hours.

Do you have a sliding scale?

Yes, I do offer a sliding scale for people who may have a financial need. Just let me know what price works for you. We base the sliding scale on an honor system... no questions asked.

When does each session start?

You can start the boot camp on any Monday. After your free trial ends, your payment for the class will be prorated based on how many workouts are left in the month.

How long is your free trial?

Our free trial lasts for a full week. Try out the boot camp and see if it meets your fitness needs.
